    Fun Facts

    • Inspired by Chinese porcelain (qinghua, 青花) this candle features the signature blue and white colors that were developed in the Tang Dynasty. The blue pigment came from the use of cobalt oxide while the porcelain was made from white kaolin clay. Beautiful scenery and patterns were hand painted on each piece by brush.
    • The lanterns featured in the illustration symbolize good fortune. Invented in the Han Dynasty, paper lanterns were displayed to wish for a better and brighter future. Their circular shape symbolizes togetherness and they're usually decorated with elaborate designs or embellishments. Lanterns are popular during special events like the Lantern Festival, which marks the end of the Chinese New Year.
    • The candle labels were illustrated by a Taiwanese-American female artist in honour of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage, which is celebrated in the month of May.
